I ve been teaching TOEFL preparation classes with this book and for that it is TERRIBLE There aren t enough examples and there s no practical or useful advise on HOW to take the test Most of the book is just text describing the test question a lot of which is stuff you would figure out on your own by simply looking at the test Other books actually offer practice and exercises There are NO exercises in this book outside of a few sample questions and there are only three examples of each speaking task altogether Several pages of writing topics but barely any advise on how to actually write the thing
Don t waste the money because it s official

It is good enough for overviewing what the iBT is I have been living in North America for over 10 years I need this book just for a guide to prepare the test If you are looking for a book to study may not be a good choice Since the real test seemed a little bit harder than the book at least my test was took on Jan 16 2010

it is not much different from the previous edition but in general is a good book for studying for the TOEFL
