My title says it all I am homeschooling a kindergartener It finally occurred to me that history is probably going to be my daughter s best school subject She LOVES stories I wasn t going to do any history this year but in an effort to appeal more to her interests I decided to give this book a try Best realization I ve had yet in homeschooling her Because I hated history as a kid it took me a while to think of it but I ve having a vicarious experience with her Really enjoying it
>> The Biblical quotes are inaccurate calls the whole book into question
We have just began using volume 1 of this series as part our daughter s homeschool studies In several instances the author appears to be quoting excerpts of text from historical sources However her excerpts from the biblical books of Genesis and Exodus are not accurate quotes at all nor even simple paraphrases They are instead interpretive extrapolations of the biblical accounts including information not found in the Bible and leaving out details pertinent to the historic accounts found there While the excerpts from Daniel and Luke seem a little truer to the original source the implied representation of all these segments as quotes from historical sources is very misleading It causes me to doubt the accuracy of all the apparent quotes from the other ancient stories she has cited and I find I cannot trust the author s scholarship in general Very disappointing

My children BEG for history lessons Ms Bauer and Mr Weiss have created a masterpiece here Ms Bauer s history stories are compelling and easy for kids to follow We have the book version of this as well and read stories from it regularly Mr Weiss does have a liquid gold quality to his voice and we really enjoy listening to him
